To provide practical support to those that struggle with Bipolar Disorder or Depression. Support is peer led and provided free of charge. We are not licensed counselors, though we do have guest speakers periodically.
Bill Haug founded Open Arms around 2004 after he realized the need for free counseling and support groups for those that suffer from Bipolar Disorder and Depression. During that time, DBSA met in small coffee shops like CCs on Jefferson, and then in the La Madeleine’s restaurant at Bocage. In late 2021 we expanded our meeting space to the EBR public library conference rooms, where we hope to grow in number and support! Come join us for in person meetings. Meetings are free of charge and open to anyone who suffers from Bipolar Disorder or Depression and their loved ones, family, or friends. We hope to see you in a meeting soon!

DBSA of Baton Rouge, Open Arms
Thank you for visiting DBSA - Open Arms. We meet at the East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 7pm - 8pm in RM 2A. We are a peer led support group, meaning that each of our members support one another through their lived experience with Bipolar Disorder or Depression.
